Your favorite craft session can turn into a big hassle if accidentally any superglue (Fevikwik) gets into someone’s hand.
For all those who aren’t aware, superglue or Fevikwik is cyanoacrylate ester combined with appropriate and balanced solvents like acetone or nitromethane. It is generally used to stick any two objects together.
But what really happens when Fevikwik sticks to the hands? Is it possible to remove it? Is its removal painful or causes any allergies to the skin? Well, if you are looking for such answers, we have just the right piece of information for you.
Thankfully, Fevikwik is not harmful to the skin and can easily be removed; by just using some simple tricks. Here is some useful information about how to remove Fevikwik from hands and skin without any hassles or complications.
Methods to Remove Fevikwik From your Hands and Skin:
You can try some of these methods to get rid of Fevikwik from your skin without causing any damages to the skin or hands:
Try Soapy Solution:
Soaking the affected skin in soapy water can be helpful if the Fevikwik glue isn’t fully dry. This process helps to soften the glue by making it soft which helps in its easy removal.
Take a bucket and fill it with suitable warm water. Make sure that the water is not very hot but warm enough to make the glue moist or soft.
Once your soapy solution is ready, soak the affected area in it for about 10-15 minutes. After the glue starts getting soft, start with gently removing it from the skin. You can also rub it off from your skin while keeping it soaked in soapy water.
This process is majorly helpful but if you feel any irritation or allergies on the skin with pain, then it is advisable to stop continuing with the process.
Nail Polish Remover to The Rescue:
The next thing that you can try using is a nail polish remover. Nail polish removers contain acetone (popularly known as a strong solvent) which is effective in dissolving Fevikwik.
Before using nail polish remover on any surface, make sure to thoroughly clean that surface with water to avoid any complications. You should also wash your hands with an effective cleanser to avoid any skin reactions.
Take nail polish remover in a sufficient bowl and soak the affected skin area in it for 1-minute. If the glue bond is not dissolved till then, remove the skin for sometime before again soaking it in the solution.
After you are done with the process, make sure to again wash your hands completely as acetone can dangerously dry the skin to irritate. The scenario can get a lot worse if you have sensitive or dry skin. In such a case, you should apply a suitable moisturizer to improve your skin’s quality.
Apply Butter or Oil:
This is one of the oldest and effective ways of removing Fevikwik from the skin. Oils such as coconut oil and avocado oil help remove the adhesive.
Soak the affected skin part in warm water for about 5-10 minutes followed by rubbing the oil or butter. Keep rubbing the oils unless and until the adhesive bonds leave the skin.
Rubbing lemon juice on the adhesive affected skin part is also helpful. Lemon juice contains acid that proves its effectiveness for loosening the Fevikwik bond on the skin. This method is most suitable for smaller patches of Fevikwik.
Take lemon juice in a bowl and soak your hand in it for10-15 minutes along with the direct application of the juice on the skin. After this, rub off the glue from the skin followed by washing the hands and moisturizing it.
